Why do Manila people look different from the people from the provinces?

Manila people have lighter skin and are quite taller than people from the province, provincial people are darker than those from Manila, why is that?

1. People in Metro manila generally avoid the sun, and in fact spend money for whitening products, including whitening soaps. They are more easily influenced by ads, also because most of them work in offices and factories. On the other hand, people in the provinces do not concern themselves so much with physical appearances. A lipstick is already "make up' for them, and they would already feel dressed up for an occasion.

Generally the weather of manila comparing with the provinces doesnt make people darker , instead lighter skinned,..the lifestyle that Manial people hace, the food that they consumed, the hygiene, the sensitivity they have with beauty and foods..........otherwise,people of Cebu are besutiful too againbecause of the strong Spanish mixed blood they have!!!

I think people in Manila look different from those in the provinces for 4 reasons: 1) Water - believe it or not, the water in most provinces are not treated & it does change your skin color & texture 2) Type of Work - Most provinces rely on agricultural work w/c demands working in the fields under the heat of the sun 3) Mixed Races - Some Manilanians have ancestors with mixed blood dating back from when we were colonized by the Americans, Spaniards & Japanese. 4) Other resources (a guess) - Manila is a business district & people here have money to buy lotions,sunscreens or go to a cosmetologists...hehehe
5. The reasons are: 1. Water: Because water in manila is from a DAM the water contains chlorine when people takes bath it makes then whiter than people from province also people from province use fresh water. 2. Occupation: People in manila use to work in a office comparing people in a province usually work as a farmer so their skin is exposed to suns heat unlike people working in a office type job always in a air condition room. 3. With regard to their height: Actually there are 3 origin of races of the filipinos they are malay, Ita, Indones so all these genetic affects the height issue. Comparing to height of people in manila some of people in manila were half blood race from other country thats why some people are taller but not always because about 60% of population of metro manila are people from the province went to manila to seek job. then people in province looks smaller even years pass from the 3 origin of races it still affects the genes of people thats why they are smaller unlike people from manila. 6. Because the people in the provinces don't have enough money to afford skin whitening products. That and people in Manila care way to much about their looks. I love Manila!
7. sounds like you have never been to a province oirgels. not all manila people have lighter skins and not all of them are tall. same goes with the promdi (like me). not all of us are dark skinned nor short. as for you johny, province people are practical. why spend money on products you don't really need? is whitening essential? I'd bet if we're together, (am not using any whitening product, mind you) my complexion from yours is not very far behind. We do have treated waters (there's also NAWASA 'round here) and we also drink distilled water. yeah, not all though, but most, consider lipstick a make-up. Why, my everyday pampaarte is consist only of a lip balm and talc. what am trying to say is, you guys are so ignorant! why don't you come to the province and experience their lifestyle firsthand? you might be surprised! admit it though, most people from the provinces are prettier.. they're unspoiled, pure and simple!
8. in Manila, people spend most of their time indoors because you got technology to entertain you. But in the provinces, people go outside more often, like to the beach or go hiking.
9. We, (people in the provinces) wonder why Manileños think that way too. Hahaha! It seems that you limited your observation to a few provinces. I suggest you go farther, all the way to Mindanao. You will find caucasian features, coupled with height. Why so? Spanish ancestry, and because the source of food is right in our backyard. The ocean is a short walk away. Nothing like fresh seafood and fresh vegetables. Yum.
10. I'm an Ilokana and I was at UPLB for a few years. When I returned home, I was fairer than my originally fairer sister for a few months. After that, I was back to my original skin coloration. I was in Mainland China for a few months and when I came back, everybody commented I was looking more beautiful and more fashionable. Now I'm back to my old looks, hehehe. Take it from there.
11. they look about the same but maybe style of dressing is different. also girls from city have access to more things like make-up than girls from the provinces
